Carey is a former fashion model. She's 5'10" tall, and was popular among top American designers, such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc. Her father, a distinguished scientist who won the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists 1979 Scientist of the Year prize, is a highly respected geologist. Because of his work, Carey has been raised across the globe. She started modeling part time when she was a student studying at college at University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent for the Ford model Agency in New York. The year was 1980 when she emigrated to France for a brief period of time, and lived in Paris as well as Bordeaux, before returning back to New York in order to continue an acting career. The model was featured on Vogue and Glamour cover. She studied full-time in New York University, obtaining her major in Literature while working on modeling assignments. As time passed, she was drawn to acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. In 1986 she had her first performance, a bit part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. White water rafting, skiing and rock climbing are among her preferred activities.
